Learn English

When it comes to learning a language, it is vital that students have an understanding of all 4 of the key language learning skills: the Productive skills (Speaking & Writing) and the Receptive skills (Listening & Reading). Our Creatro courses are entirely in English, so our students are immersed in the English language from September right through until June.

We work on pronunciation and enunciation in English, making sure that their accents and general fluency sound correct and that they are speaking the language as well as possible. With the Director’s help, the students write, edit and produce a script for a brand new Stage-Play. This tests their written abilities and of course, strengthens and improves upon them.

The course is led by a native English teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching English in Madrid. The children actively listen to English throughout the course, and they are required to engage in many conversations regarding the project. Once the script is almost finished, the children have to use their critical reading skills so that they can analyse, edit and give more shape to the script and the overall narrative of the Play.

Create Theatre

Creativity is at the heart of everything we do at Creatro. The students are not provided with a ready-made script. They have to sharpen their creative thinking skills to create a strong narrative, believable characters and a well thought out setting for the Play. We go through some narrative theory, focusing on Beginning, Middle & End and what each of those steps require. We improvise characters and develop their personalities and relationships with one another. We explore a wide variety of Genres including Science- Fiction, Mystery, Fantasy and Action. Creatro encompasses the entire creative process of inventing an original Stage-Play.

At Creatro, we welcome the beauty of a child's imagination and creative thought process, and then we bring it to life on stage! It is important to us that the students enjoy the course, and that the parents enjoy the final performance, so elements of Comedy are incorporated into the scripts, capturing the joy and uniqueness of a child’s humour. We build our Plays around a moral message which students will ultimately take away with them at the end of the course. At Creatro we create childhood memories which will last forever!

Become an Actor

Forget what you know about School Plays. At Creatro we take Drama and acting seriously. Throughout the course our students learn about the importance of Body Language, and how much we communicate physically. They experiment with many different Facial Expressions, and learn about the power of Eye Contact. They play around with Posture Movement, as well as Tone of Voice and how this can be linked to our Emotions. We also explore the importance of Freezing in Drama, and how essential it is for characters to React to other characters’ lines.

The children create their characters for the Plays and learn to love, understand and grow with these characters. For some children, sports are a natural outlet, but Creatro is looking for newcomers and aspiring actors and actresses interested in showcasing their acting abilities!

Social Skills

As the old saying goes, there is no "I" in "Team". It would be nearly impossible for anyone to create a Stage-Play alone, and that's why working together as a team is a fundamental aspect of Creatro. This is a Group Project, one in which the students enhance their Communication Skills and learn to give and receive Constructive Feedback. We help build up their Self-Esteem, encouraging each other whilst understanding that no idea is a bad idea!

At the beginning of the course we play Drama games, create a variety of Mini-Plays and get to know everyone in the group. Once the students have started to form bonds with one another, they should feel inspired to get across their ideas and shape the story itself. Everyone works with everyone as ideas spark, relationships develop and ideas come to fruition. The students are sure to make friends along the way, and they typically begin to feel more confident socialising with students of different sexes and ages. Here at Creatro, we are all unique but we are all equal.

Public Speaking

There is a difference between studying English from textbooks and having the ability and confidence to use English in public. After completing a course at Creatro, our students speak with clarity and are able to project their voices so that they are suited for the theatre. They speak with better Eye Contact and improved Physical Posture. They learn to overcome their fears of speaking in front of others, slowly but surely conquering any shyness they may feel.

On stage they display confidence and charisma, whether they are singing and dancing or reciting their lines in character. At Creatro we turn students from Good Public Speakers into truly Great Public Speakers. A skill they will carry through life with them.

Have Fun

Students learn best when they are having fun! Yes, they will be learning and using lots of English, but there are no exams, no textbooks and no essay writing here. We laugh, invent narratives and play many games together in a safe environment. One for kids to be kids.

Creatro students have lots of fun, helping with Set Design as well as drawing Backgrounds which we use as backdrops when performing the final Stage-Plays. The students have to consider their characters’ costumes, the way they speak and interact with others and how their character is an essential component to the play they invent. All whilst improving their English along the way!
