Stranded!

2019

‘Stranded!’ is a Stage-Play created by 80 children in their 3rd year of Primary School.

At the airport, a group of children are excited to board the aeroplane and go on their school trip. When disaster strikes and the plane crash lands on a desert island, the children are alone with no adults to help them! After getting over the initial panic of their situation, they must figure out a way to get off the island and get back home! 5 different groups of students must put their heads together and work as a team if they are to survive the surprises, challenges and encounters the island holds. They must find something to drink, something to eat and somewhere to sleep! They need firewood, resources, shelter and most importantly, an escape plan! But how are they going to do it all without leadership and optimism? Will they ever escape being stranded on a desert island?

An original Stage-Play inspired by William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, ‘Stranded!’ was written over the course of the 2018/19 academic year by a whole year group in the 3rd of Primary. It included a cast of 80 non-native English speaking children aged 8-9. The Play was shaped around The 7 Habits of Happy Kids which includes philosophies such as: “Be Proactive”, “Begin with the End in Mind”, “Put First things First” and “Think Win-Win”. ‘Stranded!’ included songs, dances and moral messages related to teamwork, positivity and working efficiently.
